Viswa Kula
Viswa is a Singhalese Family/Cast in Sri Lanka and they were the traditional working category in Engineering and Construction. Vishvakarma known as Universal Architect/Engineer/Craftsman (Also known as creator of Sri Lanka) made five Children Vishvajna, Tvastra, Manu, Silpi and Maya. He taught Vishvajna: Gold/Silver, Tvastra: Brass/Copper and alloy, Manu: Iron, Silpi: Stone and Maya: Wood works respectively. Later generations of Vishwakarma family used the name "Viswakarma" to define their families and finally became a cast. It was started as a cast at the Brahman status and called "Viswabramin". Even though, Viswakarma is a cast in India it was developed in Sri Lanka also as same after people moving to Sri Lanka from India. According to the Status of cast, People who done massive and remarkable Engineering and Construction works ware treated as Brahmin while other skilled craftsmen were treated higher than rest of the semiskilled and unskilled categories like Govi and Padu. In the modern society members of the Viswa Family/Cast are the Professional Engineers and Architects. ==References==
